March 30th- Meet with group at hotel explain
tour information.
March 31st- "Hollywood Day" Nothing
says Southern California like Hollywood! That is why we are off to a great
start with a trip to tinsel town! Shuttle pick up from the L.A. Hotel. The bus
ride will start off by taking us to the World Famous Peterson Auto Museum (http://petersen.org/) for a
guided tour of some amazing cars and motorcycles. Next stop is Hollywood blvd.
for a short stop at Manns Chinese Theater (http://www.chinesetheatres.com/)
where you will see the hand and foot prints of famous celebrities captured in
cement. Many movies "characters" in costumes are usually seen here.
Then a ride over Mulholland Drive for a very special visit at George Barris
Kustom City (http://www.barris.com/)
. Here we will see up close several of George Barris' best movie and TV cars
like- The Batmobile and more. If we are lucky we might even get to visit with
George Barris himself! After this fantastic stop we will proceed to Universal
Studios (http://www.universalstudioshollywood.com/)
for a guided tour of the studios and Movie Magic! See back lots where filming
may be going on. The remainder of the day is here, lunch included with the VIP
tour, then a bus ride back to the L.A. Hotel.
April 1- L.A. Hotel pick up- go to Glenns,
get bikes. (today I will have my pick up and a driver for the luggage). Start
out by riding up to Neptunes Net (http://neptunesnet.com/) for a stop before traveling up
into the Malibu area for a stop at "The Rock Store" (http://www.rock-store.com/).
A great place to stop in for a refreshment. Many celebrities stop in here like
Jay Leno. (The remainder of this day is still yet to be
finalized but will end at the new Hotel in Buena Park.
April 2- "The Coast Ride"
Todays ride will take us through Trabuco & Silverado Canyons for a
stop a Cooks Corners (http://www.cookscorners.com/)
Another very famous Southern California Bikers hang out. Over the back hills to
the coast will bring us to Laguna Beach where we will ride the coast highway
north. At Balboa we will ferry our bikes across Newport Bay and continue up the
coast through Newport Beach, Huntington Beach (Surf City U.S.A.), a brief stop
at "Mothers" in Sunset Beach- (http://www.beachcalifornia.com/sunset-beach-bars-mothers.html)-one
of the oldest bikers clubs in Southern California.
Still working north the next stop will be a The
Queen Mary for a guided tour on this amazing Ship. Next to the Queen Mary is
also a Russion Submarine that you are welcome to explore (for a fee). Next we
will stop for a group picture where Jessie James and West Coast Chopper called
home until just recently. We will still stop there to check it out. Return to
Hotel.
April3- On this day we will ride the
Angeles Crest Highway 2 between La Canada Flintridge to Wrightwood. Although
this will take most of the day- there will be a bit more to this day- I have
yet to finalize it. Ending in Buena Park.
April 4- "Julian Ride" (http://www.julianca.com/attractions/index.htm)
this small town is nestled in the center of wine country and has miles of great
riding all around it. Start out the day with a visit to World Speed record
holder Wink Ellers shop for some coffee and donuts. Then on down Trabuco Canyon
to Cooks Corner, then the back way to Ortega Hwy, The Look Out Point (http://www.lookoutroadhouse.com/),
Lake Elsinore, Old Town Temecula, Hwy 79 around Palomar Mountain, Return by
Escindido, Oceanside, Hwy 5 back to Buena Park.
April 5- "San Diego Day"
I still have to scout the exact route and plan for
this day- but it will go south to San Diego then swoop back inland into Orange
County.
April 6 - Palm Springs Day. A ride across the San
Jacinto Mountains thru Hemet, the mountain town of Idyllwild, dropping down
into Bermuda Dunes (possibly for Dune Buggy Rentals/Rides), then on to Palm
Springs. Return will take us to the Outlet Stores on Interstate 10 for a bit of
shopping.
April7- On this day we return the bikes with a last
stop at Santa Monica Pier before Glenns Shop. The exact route for this day I am
still working on.
